The beginning of something big

Hundreds of emails arrive to our office every day with doubts about the procedure to get one of our transformations, this is the case of Jordi, our project #56. This project came through a form to get information about our transformations. As soon as we intercepted his email, we answered as soon as possible and the first contact was made.

The call was great and immediately a connection was made that already foretold that Jordi would become the next member of our transformation workshop. After this first contact, we provided him with a document explaining how we work and the steps we follow in each transformation so that he could have an idea of our project concept and an indicative price, before making a custom one for him.

A decisive call

We always ask for information to start working on the preparations for the transformation, so that these are adjusted to the objectives and preferences of the future owners. In the first call we talked about the fact that the project was going to be based on a pristine Street Scrambler, limited for the Motorcycle Endorsement and with only 600 kilometers ridden. We talked for a few minutes to determine some details and when we said goodbye we specified that we would call him the next day so that he would have time to see and analyze the aforementioned document.

But not even two hours had passed when Jordi called us back to tell us that the idea of the project had changed completely and he was proposing a new challenge. The Street Scrambler proposed for the change became his everyday bike and he wanted to transform it into a carbureted Bonneville Black. For the latter, he needed our Tamarit team to help him to get this model to be the basis of the project #56, and so we did.

Fusion of ideas

The only preference he told us was that he would like it to be a dark bike where, if possible, it would be a matte black that prevails in the paint. As you can see in the final result it is not a bike that can be categorized in a particular style, it is a bike design that merges different ideas and we call them "top projects" because they create their own style within our workshop of transformations.

Custom elements

Once Laia was in our workshop, we started the changes by cutting and welding the new subframe that was custom created for this bike. Within the project, one of the most significant parts is the bicycle style seat accompanied with a rear rack, from less to more, which would be the passenger seat and where the rear fender will serve as a base for the passenger seat.

We can also highlight the presence of the "Ruby" covers, this time modified to the right to fit the needs of the project, as we placed some Zard exhausts above that forced the modification.

The height of the motorcycle was reduced by cutting three centimeters in length of the fork legs and replacing the original 34-centimeter shock absorbers with 30-centimeter Hagon brand ones. To achieve this lower design, the fuel tank anchors were modified to lower it and anchor it with another system.

Noticeable country look

Laia has a marked country look and to enhance this, we opted for Continental TKC 80 tires. On the other hand, the front of the bike was modified absolutely entirely and replaced by different parts such as our "New Little Bastard" fender, numerically controlled machined triple trees, "Pantera" suspension springs, ¾ headlight with grid and 22mm handlebars.

For the most technological part we opted for the German brand Motogadget, with the incorporation of the handlebar switches with turning signals at the end of the handlebars and the mini speedometer, which this time was adapted on the handlebars and between the handlebars risers.

Making the most out it

Taking advantage of the black color of the engine, the central part of the bike also underwent major modifications such as the replacement of all the engine covers, including the rocker covers and the sprocket cover, with the EMD set. To finish marking the peculiar character of Laia, other parts were included such as our "Hummer" sump guards and engine protection bars that hold PIAA headlights with LED light for a perfect night vision.

The list of parts that make up project #56 is very long and there are many that we do not name, some that are included as we go along and that accentuate the style so characteristic of this transformation. Laia became a special project from the beginning, made with dedication and excitement, as it owes its name to nothing but Jordi's "precious princess", his daughter.

The perfect project

I wish all the budgets that we carry out happened with the same fluency, a call in the morning and in the afternoon to close the project. The idea of working with this Bonneville model fascinated us because we have a weakness for carbureted motorcycles and, in addition, they give us more freedom when working with them.

Thus began the journey of our new project, known by the name of Laia. If there is something that we must thank is the confidence that Jordi placed in the TMRT team for the creation of the designs as he gave us free rein and trusted that we would achieve the best possible result for his bike.
