Laia motorcycle

A premium bike designed and transformed by Tamarit Motorcycles.

Laia History

An anxiety or doubt could be the trigger for someone to become the new member of the Tamarit family. Indeed, many of the projects come to us through a query or any other kind of information request sent by our contact forms. The time it takes to this anxiety to become in something more significant is pretty changeable as well. We’ve had clients whose relationship with Tamarit has been quite long until he decided to make a full motorcycle project with us, they do buy some spare parts to Tamarit indeed, but in the end they feel hunger for more and they end up transforming the bike on its entirety. There are other cases, but only a few, when the client comes with the clear idea of transforming the bike with us and has no doubts about it.

Every week we receive in our main mailbox hundreds of emails asking about the procedure for getting one of our builds. One of these mails was the owner of the project number 56, Jordi. Such project came through a form meant to ask for info about our projects. When we got his mail, we replied as soon as possible and the first contact arised. Calling was awesome and soon that special feeling that you get when someone is about to sign the Tamarit contract appeared. After that first contact, we handed him over a file where we explain how do we work and which are the steps we follow on every build so he had more knowledge about who we are and what we do, also, several example quotes are given as well, just to have a quick idea about the expenses, before we make a personal one for him.

Each motorcycle is one of a kind.

We always ask for info in order to begin with the Tamarit project on a proper way. These projects are always adapted not only to what our clients can afford, but also how they are, how they ride or how do they feel. On the first call we made, a project with an Street Scrambler (with only 600 km as mileage) set to be driven with the A2 license was discussed and mentioned.

“We’ve had clients whose relationship with Tamarit has been quite long until he decided to make a full motorcycle project with us, they do buy some spare parts to Tamarit indeed.”

We talked for a few minutes in order to pinpoint several details and when we gave farewell we said that we would be back tomorrow so he had time to look up the files and options he received through the PDF file mentioned before.

Not even 2 hours had passed and Jordi call us back just to say that his idea changed completely and he had a new challenge for us. The Street Scrambler mentioned before would be his daily use motorcycle, and the one he wanted modified would be a Bonneville Black Carb. In order to get this new request, he needed the Tamarit Team to get him a second hand unit from this model, and so it was.

How we wish that every project that lands in our desk would be as swift as this one, a morning call, an evening contract signal. The thought of making a Triumph Bonneville of such specifications excited us big time since we have clearly a soft spot for this carburation models and, moreover, they provide us certain extra freedom when it comes to work with them.

“We always ask for info in order to begin with the Tamarit project on a proper way. These projects are always adapted not only to what our clients can afford, but also how they are, how they ride or how do they feel.”

And that’s how our new project began, nicknamed as Laia. If there’s something to mention and thank Jordi is the trust he put on us, meaning that there were no guidelines and the design team got completely unleashed since he knew that we would be striving to get the best result for his bike. The only note he left us was that he wanted a dark and elegant motorcycle, a black matt one.

As we can see on the project, it’s a motorcycle that you just can’t label with a single tag, since this is a design that blends several styles, trends and ideas and we call them “Top Projects” because they create a style on its own among all our builds collection.

Once Laia landed in our workshop, we began to change it by cutting and welding the new frame that was made just for the occasion for this project. One of the most significant parts included on this project where the bicycle-style seat coming with a bracket and a little cushion that would be the passenger’s seat, built over the rear fender. Another part from Tamarit included is the Ruby Cover set, modified slightly to the right to be adapted to this project because the client wanted to add a Zard exhaust as well and quite an adaptation was needed to all the filter section. Motorcycle height was reduced by cutting 3 cms the bottles length and replacing the current shock absorbers for a 30 cms Hagon. In order to get this low riding design, the brackets for the fuel tank where modified as well in order to bring it a little bit further down and attach it with other system.

Laia has a strong offroad feeling, and in order to boost this, we chose as tyres the Continental TKC80. On the other hand, the front part of the motorcycle was completely modified and several parts were replaced such as the front fender, where we installed the New Little Bastard, aluminum triple tees, Pantera springs, ¾ headlight with grill and a 22mm handlebar. The Motogadget usual pack came with the bar end turning signals, control switches and the tiny speedometer, which was adapted and installed between the handlebar and the switches.

As the engine was coated in black, the engine part had several mods as well such as all the EMD engine covers, which replaced the stock ones such as the main, stator, sprocket and valve covers. To finish the peculiar vibe from Laia, other parts were included like the Led fog lamps made by PIAA for a perfect night vision. The part list that fully form the project #56 is too long to mention every single one of them and several are not mentioned. Laia has been a truly special project for us from the beginning, made with passion and excitement, since the name of the project came from Jordi’s “beloved princess”, his daughter.
